FAQ
Was ist der Unterschied zwischen Fachschaft und Fachschaftsrat?
The student council consists of all current students enrolled in the programme. The student council committee, on the other hand, is made up of elected members of the student council who voluntarily take on administrative tasks within the institute. The student council committee is re-elected at the beginning of each new semester and represents the views of the student body.
Welche Voraussetzungen muss ich erfüllen, um Geowissenschaften an der RUB zu studieren?
The basic requirement for studying is a general higher education entrance qualification. Without a high school diploma, there are few cases where this is still possible. More information is available here.
Was benötigt man für das Studium?
Prior knowledge of mathematics, chemistry and physics is very helpful for this degree programme. However, if you did not study these subjects in upper secondary school, for example, but have a general interest in the natural sciences, this is not an obstacle to studying. The programme includes many field trips where you spend the day outdoors in all weathers. So you should be prepared to spend the day outdoors even when it rains.
Kann ich Kurse im Geographischen Institut belegen?
Yes! You can take courses with the geographers and have them credited to your supplementary module. Please contact our examination office for more information.
Wie teuer sind Exkursionen?
The price of excursions can vary greatly. For example, day trips are always in the local area and free of charge. Larger mapping projects in Germany, on the other hand, can cost a few hundred euros. Major excursions abroad, mainly at Master's level, can cost between one and two thousand euros, depending on the destination. However, our institute supports every student with 20 euros per day for excursions where a personal contribution is required.
